New place for my blog

Morning everyone. Just thought I'd let you know I decided to move my blog to Wordpress so I'm amongst loads of interesting folk. You can keep up to date with my ramblings here  http://carolepatrice.wordpress.com/

Enjoy!

Swimming Pool painting

A while ago I sent the first limited edition print of my Swimming pool painting to the owner of the hotel we stayed at on Capri this year - it was their swimming pool that prompted me to paint it.

I'm pleased to report that he has received it and sent me a lovely e-mail

"Many thanks for your lovely present. The painting is already hanging in my house" Pietro D'Emilio, Owner Hotel Canasta

Paintings update

The portrait of Kate was very well recieved by both my friend and the subject "Kate", you can see my painting on the Portrait  page.

I display my work on an Australian site called Redbubble and recently had two of my works featured on the Fine Arts and Acrylic Paintings page;

Exhibitions

Yet another person has offered wall space for me to exhibit and sell my paintings. I will be ordering some limited edition prints of my paintings this weekend so I can take advantage of these locations in time for Christmas!

In the meantime I'm looking around for some very plain frames to show my prints off in the best light.

I was really pleased to hear from a London gallery who are very interested in my painting of Cristiano Ronaldo for a Halloween Exhibition being held in London - so I will keep you updated on that as soon as I find out more myself.

Off to enjoy the nice weather now, have a good weekend all

Updates

Didn't realise it's been a while since I posted a blog! Must have been busy painting.

My latest project is a commission for a friend, he has asked me to paint a portrait of his daughter. It's taking some time and will be a while until I'm ready to present. Such personal things portraits, I need to capture the essence of the little girl as seen by her Dad and that is tricky. So, I shall spend some time looking and seeing and listening to him talk about her, this will all add to the end product. Update to follow.

In the meantime I've been tackling some seascapes. Something a little different for me is the surf wave I have just painted I'll post it later. I've captured the wave (I think) quite well.

Had a nice compliment today from an aspiring artist, asking for my help. How nice. She wanted to know what colours I use to recreate skin tone, which at first glance seems like an easy question, but when I really started to think about it, the list of colours was endless!

The problem is that acrylics dry darker so you could finish a painting and then look back and see a totally different one - it takes patience.

Just to list a few colours I use in skin tone; Titanium white, yellow ochre, terracotta, lake blue (for shadows) crimson, burnt umbre etc etc its' complicated.

Well that's me for the day - need to check on my casserole and do some normal stuff

Later

Limited Edition Print of Carrie Bradshaw

Today I decided to paint a portrait of Carrie Bradshaw, since I love Sex and the City so much she seemed a good subject!

I'm quite proud of it actually, and have decided to put it on my website for sale as a limited edition fine art print. Let's see if anyone wants to buy my Carrie Bradshaw acrylic portrait as a gift for someone!

Capri acrylic painting progress report

I've spent most of the day painting. My latest acrylic painting is coming on well, but it will be a while before I'm ready to put it in my paintings gallery hopefully it will be good enough!

I suppose you could call it a cityscape, although that's the last thing I'd call Capri; with it's glorious white and coloured buildings almost tumbling over each other. Certainly makes a change from all the landscape painting I've done recently.

There are so many different acrylic painting techniques that I never tire of using them and I'm so glad I'm back to painting on canvas instead of good quality paper - it's just not the same.

I'll keep you all updated on my latest "cityscape"
